Alteration Policies & FAQ

When should I make my appointment?

• Alterations should be made no later than a month prior to your event.  However, during prom season we ask that you make your appointment ASAP (when you get your shoes), as it is our busiest season.

• Please allow ample time when scheduling your alteration in case you need a secondary fitting.

• Appointments made on short notice may be subject to a rush charge.

 

What should I bring to my appointment?

• Bring the shoes and undergarments you plan on wearing with your dress. Shoes are required for hems.

 

How long will the appointment take?

• Appointments vary in length. Most appointments take anywhere from 15 minutes to 30 minutes.

 

How will the price for my alteration be decided?

• The cost of your alteration is decided by the seamstress based on the amount of work involved in the dress. Our starting prices for each alteration are posted in the store.  Alterations may be paid in cash, check or credit card.

 

When will my dress be ready?

• At the time of your appointment the seamstress and you will agree upon a completion date. This date will be written on your claim check.

• If your dress is done ahead of time you will immediately receive a phone call. If you have not received a phone call, your dress is not done.

 

Cancellations and Rescheduling?

• If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment please do so in a timely manner as our appointments book up fast and we may not be able to accommodate you on short notice.

• If you do not show up to your appointment we may not be able to reschedule you and you may need to seek alterations elsewhere.

 

Other Notes:

• Loose sequins or bead work will be addressed at the time of your alteration and repaired free of charge. However, after a dress has been worn additional repairs are subject to a service charge depending on the extent of the work.  Fancy Schmancy is not responsible for damages that occur to a dress once is has been worn. 

• Please note our formal wear is final sale, regardless if it has not been altered. There are no returns.
